Stronger Together: Connecting With Community Leaders

Earlier this month, VBIS Executive Director, Sharlene, attended a workshop in Nanaimo with the Community Associations Institute (CAI) regarding government relations. Attendees gathered together to learn how they can create and strengthen relationships with local governments and discussed the best paths for making a plan of action.

One of the highlights from the workshop for Sharlene was getting to meet Nanaimo Brain Injury Society’s Executive Director, Kix Citton, in person. Being able to discuss ideas, strategies and goals with a leader from another community is invaluable.

These opportunities to expand resources, create safe spaces and continued learning is important for VBIS to explore. As the world changes and we grow our decades-old non-profit, these chances to discover new ways to strengthen and support our community will always be incredibly valuable to us.
