Brain injuries are often referred to as invisible disabilities. Despite their prevalence, there continues to be a major gap in awareness. Share the stats, tell your friends, and help us elevate the voices of survivors that may not be able to advocate for themselves.

Host a Fundraiser

One exciting way to help the Victoria Brain Injury Society is to host your own fundraiser. From a small tea party to a large golf tournament or art show – or anything in between – you can get as creative as you want.

Thank you for considering a fundraising partnership with VBIS. Your generous support helps us expand our lengthy waitlists, and allows us to reach more individuals with ABI.

Host a Party or Event

Do you have an idea for a fundraiser? VBIS can help you plan an event that is unique to you. Feel free to reach out for any additional collaborative assistance and inspiration, but here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Book a venue and throw a party for your friends and family and sell tickets to raise funds
  • Organize a bake sale
  • Host a run/walk-a-thon
  • Get in touch with local pubs to host a fundraising pub crawl
  • Ask for donations in lieu of a gift for your birthday party

Create an Online Birthday Fundraiser

You can use your special day as an opportunity to raise money and awareness by going to https://www.canadahelps.org/en/fundraise and creating a VBIS fundraising page to share on your social media accounts to gain support. To raise awareness, you can share your cause by including your fundraising page link as your signature in your email. If you prefer a more personal touch, you can ask for support from friends and family with handwritten letters, explaining why this cause is important to you.

Get Social

Make sure to keep your friends and family in the loop by sharing your fundraising goal and your personal story. Keep them updated with friendly reminders and pictures, and let them know how close you are to reaching your goal. Be sure to tag us and hashtag #VBIS, and we would be happy to share your posts on our platforms! Most importantly, remember to thank your generous supporters because we couldn’t do it without them!

Start A Conversation

Brain injury is commonly referred to as an invisible disability. Individuals often do not present with overt physical symptoms, and brain injuries can fail to show up on brain imaging scans. The absence of a physical explanation makes it increasingly socially isolating for brain injury survivors, as they often feel others cannot relate. One of the primary goals of VBIS is to spread awareness about ABI to ensure that individuals receive the compassion and support that they deserve. It’s going to take work to inspire change, but with your help, we can broaden our reach and continue to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for survivors. You can help us achieve this goal by following us, sharing our pages, or tagging us in a post of your own. Every little bit makes a world of difference to the Society and those we advocate for.
