June is Brain Injury Awareness Month, a time to recognize the many individuals, families, caregivers, and communities impacted by brain injury each and every day. At the Victoria Brain Injury Society (VBIS), we know that no two brain injuries look the same, and that many challenges are often invisible to others.
Brain injury can affect memory, fatigue, emotions, communication, mental health, relationships, and daily life in ways that are not always immediately seen, but are very real. Through education, advocacy, peer support, and community connection, VBIS works to ensure survivors and their families across Victoria, BC feel supported, understood, and less alone.
During Brain Injury Awareness Month, we encourage our community to learn more, listen openly, and help reduce the stigma surrounding brain injury. Awareness creates understanding—and understanding builds stronger, more inclusive communities.
To everyone navigating life after brain injury: we see you, we support you, and your story matters.
