This Fall, Samantha, our Volunteer Coordinator, has had the opportunity to visit local post-secondary and high schools to share more about Victoria Brain Injury Society (VBIS) and its volunteer program. Most recently, Samantha attended the Camosun College Campus Volunteer Fair at the Interurban campus.
Connecting with Prospective Volunteers
The event provided a great opportunity to meet students and community members, answer questions, and talk about the different ways people can get involved with VBIS. At VBIS’ booth, Samantha shares how volunteers contribute to VBIS programs and the support they provide to brain injury survivors, as well as the skills and experiences volunteers would gain along the way.
She deeply appreciates the opportunity to connect with other local organizations, learn more about the work they do throughout the Greater Victoria area, and continue to build relationships within the community.
The Importance of Volunteering at VBIS
Each role helps support VBIS programs and allows volunteers to make a meaningful contribution. There are several ways to get involved, starting with the General Volunteer program at the front desk, with opportunities to take on additional roles in education outreach, SHINE, or facilitating Neuro Tracker sessions through the Train Your Brain program.
Volunteers are an important part of VBIS’ operations. Their time, skills, love, and dedication help deliver programs, create welcoming spaces, and provide meaningful support to individuals living with brain injuries!
