The annual An Evening of Black and White… Because Gray Matters gala has raised a grand total of $128, 382 in support of programs and services for brain injury survivors in Greater Victoria.
What a night! On March 1st 2025, supporters of the Victoria Brain Injury Society came together to enjoy an evening of fun and fundraising in support of our mission to support, educate, advocate, and provide housing assistance for brain injury survivors and their families.
The evening was – quite literally – filled with magic! Guests were wowed with the talents of award-winning slight of hand magician Jason Verners, who brought wonder and laughter to the stage. They also took home some fantastic items and experiences from our silent and live auctions, including a romantic 7-night adventure to Tuscany and a premier Vancouver Canucks game night experience.

“I wish I had known about VBIS back then…”
One of the most powerful moments of the evening came when Kira, a young brain injury survivor, shared her story of struggle, confusion, and loneliness as she navigated the impact of multiple concussions. A struggle that forced her to step away from the sport she loved.

“I wish I had known about VBIS back then. I wish I had known that there was a place that could help me understand what was happening to my brain, to my body, and to my emotions.
A place that could have connected me with others who had been through the same thing, so I didn’t have to feel so lost.“
Thank you for your support
